Dr
Philip Pettemerides BDS qualified
as a dental surgeon at the Charles Clifford Dental
Hospital, Sheffield University in 1976 and has practiced
in Bradford on Avon, Bath and Derbyshire before returning
to his home town, acquiring the Practice in 1984.
Philip’s
interests are aesthetic dentistry, implantology and orthodontics.
He has gained the Bristol University Diploma in Postgraduate
Dental Studies in Orthodontics, Prosthetic dentistry, Restoration
of Tooth Wear and Prothetics. He is currently the Honorary
Clinical Assistant in the Department of Orthodontics at
the Royal United Hospital in Bath and is a member of the
British Orthodontic Society. He has recently completed
research on Bond strength of orthodontic bracket adhesives
at Bristol University and has had papers published in The
Journal of Orthodontics and The European Journal of Orthodontics.
He is a founder member of the Bath and West Independent Practitioner
Group and a former chairman of the Bath Clinical Society. He
is a member of the British Dental association, the British Academy of Aesthetic
Dentistry and the Association of Dental Implantologists.
Philip is dedicated to a holistic approach to dentistry,
treating the patient as a whole, not just a set of teeth.
He does not use silver mercury fillings. Continuing
professional education is of prime importance – Philip
was awarded the Diploma in Implantology from the International
Centre for Excellence in Dentistry at the Eastman Dental
Hospital in London. He gained accreditation in the Brånemark
Implant System in 1994 and has since attended advanced
coursed under the tutelage of French and American Implantologists.
He has attended conferences and courses in the USA and
Europe, where new advances in implant treatment have been
introduced.
He is one of the first implant dentists in the UK to have
used the recently introduced Nobel Perfect implant system Philip presents courses and lectures to other dentists and
hygienists on dental implant therapy.
Dr.
Gerry Davies BDS MSc graduated
from Manchester University in 1987. After a short
spell working in Crewe, Cheshire, he ran his own
successful practice in Greater Manchester before
deciding to broaden his horizons and study other
aspects of dental surgery. This led to a Masters
degree in Oral Surgery from Manchester University
in 1998. The amount of medication needed during
and after surgery led Gerry to seek alternative
therapies and he graduated from The Royal London
Homeopathic Hospital in 1999.
Gerry has a special interest in Implantology and sedation.
He has attended the renowned Hilt Tatum Institute in
Lille, France to further develop his surgery and implantology
skills, altogether giving a treatment philosophy combining
the highest conventional methods alongside complementary
alternatives.
Gerry is a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists
and attends many conferences at home and abroad.
Dr.
Sally Davies BDS qualified
in 1990 from Guy's Hospital, London.
In
her ten years of practice based experience she has
continued professional development, attending many
courses on modern techniques and is a member of various
clinical societies local to Bath.
Having
joined the practice in February 2000, Sally realises
the importance of patient care and in earning the respect
of old and new patients alike.
She
believes patient care is a two-way relationship between
patient and dentist and is happy to discuss any concerns
and anxieties about treatments recommended.
Her
philosophy is that from the first baby tooth, prevention
of dental disease is the best cure.
Gillian
Boswell Gillian
Boswell qualified from Bristol University in 1983
and spent 8 years with the Royal Navy before entering
general practice. She commenced her MSc
in Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital in 1995
and is now a
registered specialist in Endodontics. Gillian is on the
teaching staff at
the International Centre for Excellence in Dentistry
and at Bristol
University. She has published articles on Endodontics
in a number of
refereed journals.
Helen
Knight qualified from Birmingham University in 1976. She
began her
orthodontic specialist training in 1980 at the Eastman
Institute. She was
appointed as NHS Consultant at the Royal United Hospital
and Clinical
Lecturer at the University of Bristol Dental School in
1988. She is a
member of the Specialist List in Orthodontics. Helen
is particularly
interested in the treatment of adults and people with
facial deformity. She
is married with two daughters and enjoys music, ballet,
food and wine.
Gaston
King BDS (NZ), MDSc (Melb), PhD(Lond)
Gaston graduated in 1982 from Otago University, New
Zealand, and completed his postgraduate training in periodontics
at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has been
involved in both postgraduate and under graduate education
and has given many presentations and courses in the UK
and overseas.
Gaston practise is limited to gum health (periodontics).
This includes treating gum disease (periodontitis) cosmetic
periodontics, including the treatment of gum recession
and gummy smiles.
He holds a clinic on Wednesday evenings between 6.00
p.m. and 9.00 p.m.
